The Weight of my Feet

This morning was one of those mornings.  The kind where it’s a massive effort just to swing your feet over the edge of the bed and hope their weight will drag the rest of you upright.  This morning my feet were helped along by a lick attack from Maggie, who was of the opinion that if she is awake, then everybody else should be, too.  So I did actually make it out of bed.

It’s been a big week.

The Jane and Scott Show had our first show in a few months on Wednesday evening.  That was fun, and a blissful switch away from all things law related.

Along with The Docket, HeLP Clinic and Environmental Law Society, I am also involved with an organization called the “Be Your Own Boss Network”.  The idea is to give law students resources for starting their own practice or small firm.  Beth Bachman and Rob Bexley started it last year.  I tagged along because I thought it was a great idea. . . and it has kind of exploded.  We get a great turn out every time we have an event, and this week we were also the subject of attention from the Fulton County Daily Report, which was pretty exciting.  We had a panel of five attorneys with their own practices speak and answer questions.  The student turn out was excellent, and the conversation could easily have gone on at least twice as long as we had available.  It was informative, the speakers were all both helpful and charismatic, and the whole event pretty fantastic.

Finally, our clinic hearing date gets closer, and due dates for summaries and analyses and fact patterns fly by.  Graduation, bar fitness, bar review courses, job applications. . .and that wooshing sound that Douglas Adams once mentioned. . .
