I sort of thought that since it’s Christmas eve, I would skip the blog in honor of holidays, happy family time, and all that good stuff. But I thought I would share (this non legal slice of life) with you:
The family just returned from Christmas mass, a tradition that becomes more difficult for me every year after a theology minor left me with a painful awareness of how narrow the definition of “catholic” – which is supposed to mean “universal” – has become. This year was particularly awesome for me, following some declarations by the vatican that were particularly conservative, patriarchal, and not-loving-of-their-neighbors.
My sisters and I drove home from mass listening to Sarah Bareilles (sp?) “Who Made You King of Anything”.
